Carol Ann Tjerrild Crisel, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer. Born on July 26, 1948, to Mary and Julius Tjerrild, Carol’s life was a testament to love, strength, and faith.

Carol was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, finding comfort and strength in her faith throughout her life and her illness. She is survived by her first husband, Michael Keenan; her children, Barbara (husband Alex), Michelle, Kristen (husband Jeff), and Toby (wife Toni); her stepson, Mike; her brothers, William and Robert; her sister, Julie; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Crisel, and her parents, Mary and Julius Tjerrild.

Carol’s family was the center of her world. She traveled extensively, experiencing the beauty and culture of the world, but her greatest joy was found in the love of her family. Known for her warmth and wisdom, Carol was the steady rock her children relied upon. Whether playing a game (and often winning), cooking a family meal, or offering advice, Carol gave her whole heart to everything she did.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Her laughter and encouragement filled countless moments, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She was the cheerleader for every milestone, the comfort during every trial, and the first to celebrate even the smallest victories.

Carol’s bravery during her battle with cancer inspired all who knew her. Despite the prognosis, she defied the odds, living life with strength and joy, creating unforgettable memories with her family. From quiet moments of prayer to festive horse-drawn carriage rides, she embraced each day as a gift, teaching her loved ones to cherish every moment.

Her children describe her as their hero and the ultimate example of love. Carol was the voice of encouragement, the hug that could heal, and the smile that could light up a room. Her strength, kindness, and humor left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Carol’s memory will live on in the countless lives she touched. Her unwavering faith, resilience, and boundless love serve as a legacy for her family and all who knew her. She is now at peace, cancer-free, and reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.

A funeral service to celebrate Carol’s remarkable life will be held on December 2, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salinas, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations supporting cancer research or the Catholic Church she held so dear.

Carol’s life was a reminder that love, family, and faith are the greatest treasures. As her family reflects on her life, they find comfort in her words, “I love you,” and in the enduring strength she instilled in them.

Rest in peace, Carol Ann. You are loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words can say.
