Dr. Dale Lynn Reno D.V.M., was born April 6, 1939 in Pocatello, ID. And passed away December 6, 2014 in Bakersfield, CA. He attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife, Dianne. They were married September 15, 1961 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. They lived in Pullman, WA. for four years where he attended Veterinary School at Washington State University. After graduation, they moved to Bakersfield June 22, 1968 when they purchased the Mt. Vernon Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Reno practiced veterinary medicine for the past 48 years where enjoyed caring for all animals, large and small. He was loved and respected by many members of the Bakersfield community who entrusted him with their beloved family pets. Dr. Reno developed a love for aviation and has been a licensed pilot for the past 40 years. He enjoyed taking family and many friends on fishing trips in Baja, Mexico, and Idaho. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served 5 years as Bishop in the East Bakersfield 9th Ward during the years 1981-1986. He was a loving husband to Dianne for 29 years until her death from breast cancer in 1990. Together they had four children, Dr. Shane Reno (Sherri) of Bakersfield, Lisa Harding (Robb) of Bakersfield, Gina Ashjian (Brook) of Fresno, and Danny Reno (Becky) of Orcutt. He was a grandfather of 12 grandchildren. Viewing will be Friday December 12 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Alma Funeral Home 2130 E. California Ave. Funeral services will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints East Bakersfield Stake Center, 5600 Panorama Dr. in Bakersfield, CA. on Saturday December 13 at 1 p.m with viewing from 11:30 – 12:30. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Reno would appreciate donations to be made to the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA. www.jwci.org.
