Jesus Ramirez Castro, a lifelong resident of Bakersfield, California, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in the city where his story began. He was 77 years old.Born on March 5, 1948, in Bakersfield to Josephina and Baltazar Castro, Jesus spent his entire life rooted in East Bakersfield, a place he proudly called home. He attended Bakersfield High School and built a life rich in family, friendships, and faith.Jesus married the love of his life, Sandra Conley, and together they welcomed three sons. Though their marriage later ended, their shared family remained a central part of his heart. He was also blessed with a daughter with Karen Yarberry. Jesus was a devoted father and took great pride in his children and the generations that followed.He is survived by his children: David Castro (Michelle), Alex Castro, Steve Castro (Tammy), and Alisha Purcell (Josh); twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Juanita and Antonia, and his brother, Baltazar.Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, Josephina and Baltazar Castro; his brothers Albert, Joe, Johnny, Lupillo and Roy; and his sisters Eloisa and Maria.Known for his outgoing nature and gift for conversation, Jesus never met a stranger. He loved spending time with friends and family, sharing stories, laughter, and memories. He was a man who knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it, living his life with confidence and purpose. Above all, his faith in God guided him and remained the foundation of his values.Jesus leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and deep family roots. His presence will be dearly missed, but his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.

Services will be held as follows;  Viewing and Service times are Pending , at Kern River Family Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93308.A service will follow the viewing, with burial to proceed at Historic Union Cemetery, 730 Potomac Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93307.
