LYDIA R. RODRIGUEZ September 26, 1935 - January 3, 2019 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lydia R. Rodriguez, 83, on January 3, 2019. She peacefully left this earth after being visited and comforted by family members at time of passing. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on September 26, 1935 and settling in Bakersfield shortly after. Anyone who knew her could attest to her friendly laughter and her ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Kindness and generosity are her cherished traits. She was a caring daughter to her mother, Adela Rodriguez, a protective sister, and an awesome mother to her children who brought her so much joy. Lydia was preceded by her son, Ronnie Joven. She is survived by her brother Tony Rodriguez, her children Norman Mendez-Van Sant, Joseph Mendez, Cathleen Mendez-Martinez, Michael Mendez, Susie Amaya, Patricia Joven, Jamie Joven, 21 grand children, and 30 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 11, at 7pm, at Alma Funeral Home, 2130 E. California Ave. Until we meet again mother, rest in Jesus.
