Ramon Federico Leyva 1932 -2018 On February 20, 2018, Ramon Federico Leyva was called to rest. Ramon was born on April 21, 1932 in El Paso, Texas and lived there until he came to California in 1946. He was the oldest of nine brothers and sisters, joining five that have passed and leaving behind two younger sisters and a younger brother. Ramon was preceded in death by his son Arthur , who was 15 at the time of his passing, and his wife of 50 years, Amalia Leyva, who passed in 2003. He leaves behind three sons (Raymond (Wendy), Ernie, and Dennis (Maria), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ramon was a long time businessman in Bakersfield, owning the Tecate Market for many years, and owner of Sweet Pea Productions. He also worked for General Motors in Van Nuys and the Santa Fe RailRoad in Bakersfield, retiring from the railroad in 1981. Ramon arranged and escorted numerous Las Vegas turnarounds for his many friends and family over the years and loved to spend time at the El Cortez in downtown Las Vegas. In the past few years, Ramon suffered some serious health issues, but continued to push forward and enjoyed the company of his extended family, especially around the holidays. Ramon will be missed by the many who knew and loved him. Visitation for Mr. Leyva will be Monday February 26 , 2018 from 4-8 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Holy Spirit Mission 724 E. Belle Terrace, Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday February 27, at 10:00 AM At Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church 601 E. California Ave, Interment will follow at Historic Union Cemetery Alma Funeral Home & Crematory
